I've Always Hated Hamburgers...

Until today. :) I'll explain the hamburger reference a little later.

Most of you have heard by now...but if not, we're having a sweet little GIRL! I am absolutely in Heaven. My mind is spinning with ideas about the room, making bows, sewing clothes, and so on. As for Danny, I think his head is just spinning. I'm not really sure he knows what to think. All I know is that the second that baby girl is born, he will be wrapped around her sweet, precious little finger. (All of which are growing and will soon be proportionate to her gigantic head.)

As Chris (Dr. Riegel) was doing the sonogram, he said something along the lines of, "And there's the hamburger..." I still struggled to see the hamburger (the girly parts) on the sonogram, but he was 100% positive that's what it was. He assured us several times that there was nothing sticking out between the legs. That sounds strange, but my heart started going crazy when he said that. I'll never forget the moment he told us we were having a girl. I was waiting for Danny to faint and slide down the wall--the way George Banks does in Father of the Bride. Fortunately, he held himself together. :)

On a side note, it's such a crazy feeling actually being able to refer to the baby as "her" and not "it." I love it. Soon, she'll have a name. There are a couple we're debating between. I thought we had the middle name set...and now we're going back and forth. We shall see.

Here are a few pictures from the sonogram today.

This one made me laugh because to me, it looks like an owl. The large body with two big ol' eyes. The big eyes happen to be her butt cheeks. :) In between the cheeks you can see all her glory.

Profile shot with the legs squished at the top.

This one is super hard to see, but to Dr. Riegel, it was perfectly clear. If you look closely, there is a small arrow in the top left-hand corner pointing to the "hamburger." In doctor speak, the hamburger is made up of one side of the bun, the meat, and the other side of the bun. Sorry if that's too much information...I was fascinated, and super thrilled to know it was a girl. :)

There's another shot with the arrow and hamburger.

This isn't her most lady-like shot. You can see her legs...and the hamburger between her legs. We'll have to work on her manners. We've got time. We think she was just excited about telling us she was a girl...made it easier for us to tell. :) We'll go with that.

14 Weeks - The shirt says "A little baby grows a long way." :)

As soon as we left Dr. Riegel, we headed to the mall to buy our first present for our baby girl. If you know me, I'm sure you can guess what it was...a bow. A big, colorful bow. It has a bright pink elastic band to go around her sweet little head. It also as a nice big rhinestone in the middle with little tiny feathers behind it. Holy cow, I can't wait to have a little head to put it on. :) For now, I think I'll just have Danny wear it around the house. I'm not so sure he has any clue how many bows and ruffles are about to take over his world...

There's a chance I'll be at Hobby Lobby tomorrow buying ribbon, rhinestones, and other girly things to make bows. I. Can't. Wait.

Thank you Lord for this precious little girl. Throughout the past few months--even before we were pregnant, we've prayed for a healthy baby. I might have secretly (or not so secretly) hoped for a little girl, but more than anything, we were asking for a healthy baby. However, God knows the desires of our hearts and he knows how badly I wanted to put bows on our baby's head. Danny was afraid that if it was a boy, he would be wearing football bows. He might be right. ;) We continue to pray and thank God for such an incredible blessing. We are so thankful that he has chosen us to be parents. We have absolutely NO idea what we're doing...but we'll figure it out. :)
