I went in pretty clueless. I have no idea how long the session would take. I figured maybe an hour, tops. I mean, how long could a newborn take pictures without getting hungry/fussy/dirty? If you know me at all, you know that I went in with
One of my very favorite pictures that I had seen featuring a newborn consisted of a frame from IKEA. Well coincidentally, my sister's friend Shannon just happened to have the exact frame we needed for the picture. Perfect. I wouldn't have to buy it, which meant I wouldn't be spending money. That made for a happy husband, and I was able to get my favorite picture. We all win.
Wrong. I lost. I had thought about and looked at that picture so many times leading up to her being born. I couldn't wait. However, apparently around July 20 I got pretty distracted and forgot to ask Shannon for the frame. It never crossed my mind when I actually needed it to. Fantastic. Danny, Harper, and I show up to our photographers house, I've got all the outfits/headbands/props separated out into baggies (OCD, I know). We're ready to go.
And that's when it happened. Lindsey asked where I put the frame. The frame! Oh my goodness. I hadn't stopped talking about it for months...and I completely forgot about it when it mattered. I called Shannon and Lexi both, several times--no answer. And that's when I was reminded at how blessed I am to have such an amazing husband. He "volunteered" to go to IKEA to purchase the frame. I must mention, this man hates IKEA. He'd rather turn the oven on and jump in than go to IKEA. But he offered. And he went. And he returned over an hour later, with the perfect black frame. I adore you, Daniel Paul. It's when he does things like this that continue to make me so grateful for a husband like him. He truly is perfect for me. Most people probably would have just said, "Oh well, we don't have it. That's a bummer. Move on."But he knew just how happy it would make me to have it. I'm not sure how he feels, but I think the trip was totally worth it...I love the picture.
Although it started with a little drama due to my scatter-brained self, the session was perfect. Throughout the session, Lindsey kept exclaiming that newborn sessions don't go like this. Babies don't cooperate like this. It was perfect. She even threw in a few smiles while she was sleeping. She woke up once to eat and fell straight back to sleep. Did I mention that this took over 4 hours? Insane. But she was an angel--Thank you, Lord!
